The TIP Advisory Board provides an annual report to Congress. 935bac40-fb8b-44ae-8bf4-ccdc26104e5c The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is the premier federal laboratory supporting the measurements and standards requirements of the nation. As an agency of the Department of Commerce, the research efforts at NIST are targeted at providing the technological measurement infrastructure that enables innovation and supports industrial competitiveness. As such, NIST maintains research programs and expertise in a broad range of scientific and engineering disciplines. High-risk research in these disciplines helps NIST prepare for the next generation of technologies and their related measurement and standards challenges. The TIP mission is to support innovation through funding high-risk, high reward research in areas of critical national need, and to do so by addressing "...critical national needs with the National Institute of Standards and Technology's areas of technical competence." (U.S.C. 271 Sec.28(l)(2)(B)). The TIP Advisory Board will support these goals by fulfilling its stated purpose of reviewing TIP's efforts to accelerate R&D of high-risk, challenging technologies in areas of critical national need and reporting on TIP's effectiveness in meeting its legislatively mandated mission. 253ac9b6-0c20-40b6-a7a5-310a2922dee6 Recommandations TIP was created to assist U.S. businesses, institutions of higher education and other organizations to support, promote and accelerate innovation through high-risk, high-reward research in areas of critical national need. Because the TIP Advisory Board is comprised of thought leaders from industry and other organizations, such as institutions of higher education, the Board offers a unique perspective on TIP programs, plans and policies. f8de9009-b3c0-47c2-a646-856cadae7d1a Make, Accept, Implement ba8ce2fb-ab17-4d29-8e48-fe19a811d7f6 8a3be1d8-4942-4223-9349-0d7e3a99f4c6 Recommendations Made Number Technology Innovation Program Advisory Board Department of Commerce Unspecified n/a 2010-10-01 2011-09-30 7 2010-10-01 2011-09-30 7cd47753-a63a-427b-a398-9a44ecb66a8d Recommendations Fully Accepted Percentage Technology Innovation Program Advisory Board Department of Commerce For a variety of its own reasons not applicable to the Committee, the agency may implement all/most of the recommendations, but few times recommendations are not implemented. n/a 2010-10-01 2011-09-30 TIP failed to receive any funding in the House or Senate versions of the Commerce, Justice and Science appropriations bill, therefore, TIP will not be able to implement 100% of recommendations 70 2010-10-01 2011-09-30 365dd00d-b3cd-4c6d-af59-d4006b13c2ff Recommendations Partially Accepted Percentage Technology Innovation Program Advisory Board Department of Commerce There are sometimes a few proposals which were not funded in their entirety, those few being scaled back from their original level of requested funding (allowable under the program). n/a 2010-10-01 2011-09-30 0 2010-10-01 2011-09-30 2010-10-01 2011-09-30 2013-07-09 http://explore.data.gov/resource/datasets/c5i3-bb9j Gannon (J.)
